WordPress developer, Milton Keynes: WordPress, built here
and kept running.

One WordPress developer in Milton Keynes for the whole job: the build, the hosting, the updates and the changes after. You talk to the person writing the code, and every price is published before you ring.

The job

Most people looking for a WordPress developer in Milton Keynes have one of three jobs. A new site. A site somebody else built that has stopped behaving. Or a site that works, with nobody looking after it. I do all three, in the same order every time: read what is there, write down what it costs, then do it.

WordPress is most of what I build, because it is the platform a small team can edit without ringing anyone. If you would rather not run it at all, I host it and keep it updated for £50 a month, with the domain always registered in your name.

What a WordPress developer does here: The whole list,
nothing extra.

Every one of these is in the price. If a job needs something that is not here, it is in the written scope before you say yes, not on the invoice after.

6things, all in the price

  1. 01 A new site, at a fixed price One page £800, five pages £1,600, ten pages £2,600. Each is days of work at £400 a day, so every figure on this page can be checked.
  2. 02 A site somebody else built A take-on check first, £200: every plugin, theme and integration listed, with what needs fixing, before I promise to look after it.
  3. 03 Hosting, updates and backups £50 a month on my account. Updates every month, checked afterwards, a backup every day kept off the server and another before any update runs, the certificate kept renewed, and the site put back if an update breaks it.
  4. 04 Changes when you ask £75 an hour with nothing monthly, or 4 hours a month on Manage for £300. The hours are for the changes you actually want made.
  5. 05 Speed, forms and broken plugins Slow pages, a contact form that stopped sending, an update that took something down. Measured on the real pages, and fixed at the cause rather than with another plugin.
  6. 06 Pages you can edit yourself Every page editable in the WordPress editor, and the editor looks like the page. A short guide at handover, written for whoever will be making the changes.

Built on WordPress: Two for clients, four concepts.
All of them WordPress.

The first two are clients’ sites, shown with their agreement. The rest are businesses I made up, so you can open real WordPress work before you have to take my word for any of it; every page of those says it is a concept.

All the work

How a WordPress build runs: From hello to handover.

Step 1

12 hours max

I reply

Working hours, unless I am on holiday and have said so.

Step 2

Day 0

Scope call

30 minutes, in Milton Keynes or on a call. What the site needs to do, and what is already there.

Step 3

+2 days

Written scope

Every page, what it costs and when it lands. Fixed before anything starts.

Step 4

Every week

Something to open

A working site you can click through, rather than a design you have to imagine.

Step 5

End

Handed over

Logins, a short guide, the domain in your name, and hosting if you want it.

This is for you

Who this suits: A WordPress site is for you
if any of these sound familiar.

  • A WordPress site nobody looks after
  • A site somebody else built, then left
  • Updates you keep meaning to do
  • A small team that edits its own pages

It is not, if

  • You want a template filled in and left
  • You need somebody on call at 2am
  • The site is on Squarespace, Wix or Shopify

Not sure which side you are on? Say so on the call. If I am not the right person, you get the name of someone who is.

WordPress questions: Questions I get every time.

The honest answers. If yours is not here, it is the first thing we cover.

Ask me yours
01 Do you only work with businesses in Milton Keynes?

No. I am in Milton Keynes, and the work is mostly remote, so it is the same price and the same process anywhere in the UK. Being local means we can meet when it helps, usually once at the start.

02 How much does a WordPress website cost?

Here it is fixed by size: £800 for one page, £1,600 for five and £2,600 for ten, published on the WordPress page. What moves it is how many pages there are and whether you sell online, not how long a quote takes to arrive.

03 Can you take over a WordPress site somebody else built?

Usually, after a take-on check at £200: every plugin, theme and integration listed, with what needs fixing first. Occasionally the honest answer is that it needs rebuilding before any plan makes sense, and the check says so.

04 Do you host WordPress sites?

Yes, for £50 a month on my account, with updates, backups and the certificate included. The domain stays registered in your name, and if you leave you get everything, free.

05 Can I see WordPress sites you have built?

Yes, on this page and on the work page. Two are clients’ sites, shown with their agreement: The Horseshoe in Lavendon and Chasing Myths. The rest are concepts, businesses around Milton Keynes that I made up so the work could be shown before any client’s could, and every page of each says so.

06 What happens if a WordPress update breaks the site?

On hosting here, the site goes back to the backup taken just before the update ran, and gets looked at second. Updates run every month and are checked afterwards, which is when a broken page gets found.

07 Is a WordPress developer different from a web designer?

Here it is one person doing both. The design is agreed as a mockup first, then the same person builds it in WordPress, so nothing is lost between the two.

Usually goes with: WordPress developer, Milton Keynes
and local SEO.

Built is one job, found is another. Local SEO puts your Business Profile, your listings and your reviews behind the site.
