Keyword research services: Which phrases
are worth
having.

The data behind keyword research costs pennies, and the tools are the same ones everybody has. What you are paying for is which phrases are worth having, what to do first, and it written in words you recognise. Bought here, at a fixed price.

What keyword research services buy: The data is cheap.
The judgement isn't.

A thousand phrases priced and scored costs pennies, and any of us can pull them. None of that tells you which ones are worth having, which page should own them, or what to do on Monday morning. That is the part you are buying.

Which phrases are worth having

Searched often enough to matter, winnable for a business your size, and typed by somebody who wants to buy rather than browse.

What the person typing it wants

Eight hundred phrases is a list. Knowing which of them is somebody ready to ring you is the useful part of it.

One page, one phrase

Every page gets the one phrase it should own and the two it supports, so two of your pages stop competing for the same search.

The pages with nothing worth having

Usually the useful half. A page nobody searches for is not a failure, it just is not a page that brings you work.

What to do first

In order, so the afternoon you have for this goes on the thing most likely to be worth it.

Words you recognise

Your trade’s words, not a tool’s export. If a phrase reads like nothing anybody says out loud, it does not go in.

Keyword research services, priced: Three rungs,
fixed prices.

Each one contains the one above it, so you can start small and stop when you have enough. Priced at hours at £75 and days at £400, like everything else here, and no VAT is charged. The work starts once I know what you sell and where.

2What you sell, and where

This is the whole input. The more exactly you say it, the less of the research is spent guessing.

  • Towns and villages counted separately, because people search that way
  • What people actually type, not what the trade calls it
  • Yours to keep and use, whoever builds the pages

How keyword research runs: Here's what
happens next.

The same rhythm as an audit, and you do not have to do anything in the middle of it.

Straight away

A copy

Of what you sent

What you chose, what you do and where, and a note of anything else you told me.

Within

12 hours

I'll be in touch

Working hours. Anything I need to ask about what you sell, or the towns you cover, gets asked then.

Then

The work

Two hours to two days

Depending which one you chose. Nothing is needed from you while it happens.

At the end

The files

Yours to keep

A spreadsheet and a summary, plain enough to hand to whoever writes for you.

01 What do I actually get?

A spreadsheet and a summary you can read without me. The list is the phrases for your trade and your area, each with how often it is searched, how hard it would be to win, and what the person typing it wants. The map adds every page you have with the phrase it should own. The plan adds three or six months of articles with a brief for each. The list is two hours of work, the map a day and the plan two days, and you get a date in my reply rather than a guess on this page.

02 Who writes the articles?

You do, or whoever already writes for you. That is what the briefs are for: the phrase each article is for, the questions it has to answer, the page it feeds and the order to write them in, so somebody can pick one up and start. If you would rather I wrote them, say so and I will price it separately.

03 I already have a list of keywords. Is this still worth buying?

Send it over first. Often the list is fine and what is missing is the map, which is the part that says which of your pages owns which phrase. If the list is fine, you want the map and not the list, and I will tell you that before you pay for the same work twice.

04 Do I need a website first?

Yes, and I would rather say so now than after you have paid. Research points people at pages, so if there is nothing worth landing on when they get there, it is money spent in the wrong order. If the site is the real problem, buy the site first and this after it.

05 Will it put me on page one?

No, and nothing here promises that. Google decides who ranks. What this does is stop you writing pages nobody searches for, and put what you do write in the order most likely to pay you back. Anyone giving you a position and a date is guessing.
