WordPress website designer: WordPress,
without the
plugin pile.
A WordPress website design company with one person in it. Built on a platform your team can edit, then hosted and kept updated by me, with the domain always in your name. The cost of a WordPress site is days of work at £400 a day, so you can check every price before you call.

Where is your site now?: Which one
sounds like yours?
Most WordPress work starts from one of these. Pick the closest and see what I would do.
A new WordPress site
Nothing yet, or a design waiting. I will shape the pages, build it on a theme adapted to your brand, load your real content, then host it and keep it updated.
Build yoursA WordPress site that crawls
It works, but it is slow. I will measure real pages with real content, starting with the hero image, and fix the cause rather than the score.

From Wix, Squarespace or an old build. Every old URL mapped to a new one before launch, so the rankings come with you.

Every build price is days × £400 and no VAT is charged, so any number here can be checked. Nothing is paid when you order. A deposit, paid by card once you agree the written scope, starts the work. The balance is invoiced when it is finished, or paid monthly over up to 6 months at £400 a month or more.
Is WordPress the right call?: Right for a lot of sites,
wrong for some.
WordPress runs a large part of the web, which is why it has so many ways to go slowly wrong: a page builder stacked on a theme, plugins nobody remembers installing. None of that is WordPress's fault. Here is when it fits, and when something else would serve you better.
Compare all four platforms- It fits when
- You want a site that can move anywhere, with the domain in your name
- The site will grow: more services, a blog, more locations
- It needs something a good plugin already does, like bookings
- Something else fits when
- You want to edit everything yourself, with no training. Squarespace is simpler
- The site is mostly a shop. Shopify is built for it
Fewer plugins,
faster pages.

01 Do I get a WordPress website designer, or a team?
One WordPress website designer, start to finish. The person who scopes it builds it and hands it over, so nothing is lost between a salesperson and a developer.
02 Is this a WordPress website design agency?
An agency of one. You get a WordPress website designer rather than an account manager and a team you never meet, which is cheaper and quicker for a site this size, and means the person who built it is the person who answers the email.
03 What does a WordPress website cost?
It is on this page, by size, and it is a fixed price rather than a range. What moves it is how many pages there are and whether you are selling, not how long a quote takes to arrive.
04 What does a WordPress website design company actually do?
The design half: layouts, fonts and colours, done in a theme rather than in code. Development is the forms and the speed. Most agencies split the two, and here it is one person.
05 Will I be able to edit it myself?
Yes. You get a written guide at handover, and the editor is set up around the pages you will actually change.
06 Can I design a WordPress site myself?
Yes, and plenty do. A theme and a free weekend gets you a page you like. The time goes on what nobody sees: structure, image weight, and forms that actually arrive.
07 Who owns the site?
You do. The domain is in your name and the site is hosted on my account for £50 a month. If you move on, a full backup and help moving, free.
08 WordPress or Squarespace?
If nobody will look after updates, Squarespace. If the site needs to grow or do something specific, WordPress. The packages page puts all four side by side.
09 Can you speed up the WordPress site we already have?
Usually, yes. It starts with measuring real pages rather than installing a plugin, and the fixes go at the cause rather than the score. The SEO audit is the fixed-price way in.
10 Who keeps it updated after it is built?
Me, if you want. Core, plugins and the theme go onto a staging copy first and get clicked through before they reach the live site, and there is a backup taken daily that has actually been restored. That is WordPress maintenance, and it is optional: the logins are yours either way.
11 How long does it take?
A five page site is usually a few weeks from the written scope, and the scope gives you real dates rather than a range.
12 How do we pay?
Nothing is paid when you order. Once you agree the written scope, a deposit is invoiced and paid by card, and that starts the work. The balance is invoiced when the site is finished, or paid monthly by Direct Debit over up to six months at £400 a month or more. Monthly costs nothing extra: no interest, and no VAT charged.
13 What happens after launch?
You get your logins and a written guide. I host it for £50 a month with updates, backups and monitoring, and the domain stays in your name. Changes are £75 an hour.
The other platforms: Not sure WordPress
is the one?
The same work on the other three, priced the same way, and a custom build for the jobs none of the four can do. Pick the one that suits whoever will run the site.
Slow, stuck or starting?
I can get that sorted.
