Website hosting and maintenance: WordPress hosting,
looked after.

WordPress website hosting UK small businesses can leave alone: sites on my account, updated every month and watched every day. The domain stays in your name, and if you ever leave, you get a full backup and help moving, free.

Website hosting and maintenance packages: Which one
sounds like yours?

Hosting is the one thing nobody thinks about until it goes wrong. Start from whichever of these is true today.

Start a plan

Start it here,
not on a call.

Pick a plan for hosting, tell me where the site is, and send it over. If I did not build the site, it starts with a take-on check, £200, so I know what I am looking after before I promise to look after it. You'll hear back within 12 working hours.

1Tell me about the site

This decides what happens next, so it is the first question rather than a detail at the end.

Did I build this site?
2Start with the check

A site I did not build gets looked at before anything is promised about it. The findings tell you which plan fits, and you pick one afterwards.

Nearly there.
Who is it for?

Take-on check£200

For WordPress sites: Squarespace, Wix and Shopify host themselves and bill you directly. Three months minimum. Any plan stops with a month's notice once that is up. Hours are for use that month and do not carry over. Changes on Hosting alone are £75 an hour. A shop adds £37.50. Invoiced on the 1st, with everything else that month. No VAT charged.

Managed WordPress hosting, part by part: What it actually includes.

Quick, wherever they are

The site sits on a managed network with hundreds of locations worldwide, and a page is served from the one nearest the person asking for it, already made rather than built while they wait.

Sounds like you if

“The site is slow, and the host was the cheapest one there was.”

Hosting plans

A firewall, and watched all day

A firewall in front of the site before traffic reaches it, bots and repeated login attempts turned away, and malware scanned for in real time and patched by the host rather than emailed to you to deal with. Uptime and security monitoring too: if the site goes down, I am told straight away, and it is dealt with in working hours.

Hosting and the certificate

A WordPress site on a managed host on my account, with the security certificate kept renewed, for £50 a month. The domain stays registered in your name.

Sounds like you if

“Something got in through a plugin nobody had updated.”

Hosting plans

A backup every day, put back if it breaks

A fresh backup every day, and another before any update runs, so any change can be undone. If an update breaks something, the site goes back to the backup first and gets looked at second.

Updated every month

WordPress, the theme and the plugins brought up to date, then the pages that matter checked by hand.

Sounds like you if

“Nobody has ever checked whether the backup actually works.”

Hosting plans

Free handover if you leave

A month's notice after the first three months, then a full backup and help moving it, free. The domain is already yours.

Sounds like you if

“The last person kept the domain in their own name.”

Hosting plans

Moving your site

Moved to me,
checked first.

A WordPress site that is already live starts with a take-on check, so nothing moves blind. You get the findings in writing, then a price for the move. The old site stays up until the new one is ready.

  • A backup taken before anything is touched
  • Every plugin, theme and integration listed
  • The move priced in writing before it starts
  • Your email left where it is

What it runs on

Quick, because
of where it sits.

Not a cheap shared box with a hundred other sites on it. The site sits on a managed network with hundreds of locations worldwide, and a page comes from the nearest one, already made rather than built while somebody waits.

  • Served from the closest of hundreds of locations worldwide
  • Pages held ready made, so the slow part is already done
  • Fast storage and a database cache, both set up already
  • Images shrunk and sent in a modern format automatically

Kept out of trouble

A firewall,
and eyes on it.

Almost no WordPress site is broken into by anything clever. It is usually an out of date plugin, or a password guessed overnight. So there is a firewall in front of it, and the host scans for malware in real time and patches it, rather than emailing you about it.

  • A firewall in front of the site, before traffic reaches it
  • Scanned for malware in real time, and patched
  • Bots and repeated login attempts blocked automatically
  • A security certificate included, and the site kept on https

Your domain

Always
in your name.

Your domain is your address, the name people type to find you. It stays registered to you, not me. I look after the hosting behind it, and if you ever leave, the address goes nowhere, because it was always yours.

  • Registered to you, on your own account
  • Pointed at the hosting while you are with me
  • Renewing it stays with you, outside the monthly price
  • If you leave, a full backup and help moving, free

What hosting covers every month: What happens
without you asking.

Step 1

Every day

Watched

Uptime and security monitoring, and a fresh backup. If the site goes down, I am told straight away.

Step 2

Every month

Updated

WordPress, the theme and plugins brought up to date, then the pages that matter checked by hand.

Step 3

If an update breaks it

Put back

The site goes back to the backup first, and gets looked at second.

Step 4

On the 1st

Written down

What was updated and anything that needed fixing, next to the invoice.

Hosting is boring.
That is the whole point.

This is for you

Website hosting and maintenance is for you
if any of these sound familiar.

  • Nobody knows whose card the hosting is on
  • WordPress has not been updated in months
  • It is slow, and the host was the cheapest

It is not, if

  • It is on Squarespace, Wix or Shopify
  • You need somebody on call at 2am
  • Heavy traffic, which is priced on request
Did not build it with me? It starts with a take-on check, £200

Hosting for custom builds, web apps and portals: More than
WordPress.

This plan is shaped around WordPress, and most sites here are. A custom build, a web app or a client portal is hosted the way it needs to be and priced with the project rather than bought from this page.

Web app development
  • Client portals and internal tools
  • Custom builds that are not a CMS
  • Priced with the build, not by the month

Already hosted somewhere?: You do not
always have to move.

If the site has to stay where it is, the take-on check looks at your host instead of mine. Pass it and updates only is £75 a month. Fail it and you get a list of what is missing and what it costs to put right, which is usually cheaper than moving.

Start with the check
  • Admin on the site and on the hosting, in my name, not shared
  • A backup I can take and actually put back, not one I am told exists
  • Somewhere to try an update before it goes anywhere near the live site
  • A PHP version still getting security fixes, not one that stopped years ago
  • Support at the host who answer when the site is down

Website hosting questions: The questions
everyone asks.

If yours is not here, ask it on a call. Thirty minutes, and it is free.

01 Is the hosting UK-based?

Yes. Your site runs on servers in the UK, and I am in Milton Keynes. The host makes a backup every day and keeps those backups off the server, in the United States. If you need everything kept in the UK, say so before the site moves and it is hosted with a UK host instead. Copies are cached closer to whoever is loading the page, which is how any site is fast a long way from its servers, but the site itself is here. The domain stays registered in your name either way, so none of it locks you to me.

02 What is in the website hosting and maintenance packages?

Hosting, the updates, a daily backup and monitoring on every plan, and on the two larger ones hours for the changes you ask for as well. Website hosting and maintenance UK small businesses can actually leave alone means one supplier and one bill, rather than a hosting invoice from one company and a care plan from another, with nobody quite responsible when something breaks.

03 Do you host custom sites and web apps?

Yes, though not on this plan. This one is shaped around WordPress. A custom build, a web app or a portal is hosted the way it needs to be and priced with the build, so ask on the project rather than buying a plan here.

04 What does WordPress website hosting UK wide include here?

Hosting and the certificate, a firewall, a backup every day, monitoring, updates every month checked afterwards, and the site put back if one breaks it. £50 a month.

05 What is not included?

Changes, which are £75 an hour or a monthly plan on top. Also email inboxes, renewing the domain, and premium plugin licences. Busy sites are priced on request.

06 Is this the cheapest website hosting in the UK?

No, and not trying to be. The cheapest website hosting UK sellers offer is a few pounds a month. £50 is hosting with somebody looking after it.

07 What if I want to leave?

Give a month's notice once the first three months are up. You get a full backup of the site and help moving it, free. The domain is already yours, so you are never stuck.

08 Which host is it?

One managed WordPress host for the sites I look after, with its own support team for the servers, or a UK host for a site that needs everything kept in the UK. You are told which before anything moves.

09 We already have a host. Do we have to move?

For hosting at £50 a month, yes: that price is the hosting. If the site has to stay where it is, the check looks at your host instead, and updates only is £75 a month.

10 What about our email?

Email is not part of hosting. Your mail stays with whoever provides it, and the records pointing at it travel with the domain. If email stops, it is them rather than the site, and I will help you work out which. The site's own emails, like form notifications, are set up so they arrive.

Want your website
hosting looked after?

Tell me what the site runs on and who hosts it now. Thirty minutes, and you leave knowing whether moving it is worth the bother.
